#2 Will Shock You!
Beautiful paving designs, impeccable craftsmanship, and amazing project management aren’t the only ways in which B. Rocke Landscaping can facilitate the development of your perfect outdoor oasis. We can also decorate, modify, and transform your yard (and home!) to help bring out its full aesthetic potential, right down to the finest details. This is achieved with our hands-on design process, including on-site consultations, several meetings at our office, and working closely with local suppliers and garden nurseries.
One of the easiest ways to decorate your backyard is to liven it up with plant life. While an abundance of hardscaping in a yard can sometimes make for a cool, impersonal feel, effective use of plants (annual and/or perennial) can really soften up the space. Adding spreading vines like Engelmann’s Ivy or Virginia Creeper to boulders or retaining walls can create a rustic, overgrown look. Tall, compact grasses such as Karl Foersters or Prairie Dropseed can add a bit of organized vitality to a modern landscape. Planters are available in a variety of forms, from low and wide wooden veggie planters to tall, thin, modern concrete planters. (Stay tuned for a future blog post on Planters!)
Another often-overlooked decoration element is furniture. Whether it be dining tables, sofas, or loungers, our designers can customize our design software to help you visualize the size and location of each piece. One of our clients even sent us images of the furniture he’d ordered for his property; we modelled it into the design plan to ensure that it fit both the yard and the aesthetic he was looking for!
To get the most out of your yard, however, you need appropriate lighting. Good lighting can extend te usability of your outdoor space into the evening (or the mornings in a Manitoban winter), lower the risks of falling blindly into a pool or stubbing your toe for the tenth time on your lounger, and create an overall calming effect. Contrary to popular belief, outdoor lighting doesn’t have to be an expensive addition to your project. Running a low-voltage electrical conduit underneath a garden or patio is a relatively easy task if it’s planned ahead of time. Even strings of lights hanging from a pergola, or artfully placed solar lights, can bring a completely new atmosphere to your space. In our software, our designers can change the time of day, the angle of the sun, and add lighting effects with just the click of a button!
So the next time you’re shopping for patio furniture, wondering what your house would look like with a new coat of paint, or researching which plants you’re least likely to kill, call and book a consultation with us!
