Many homeowners ask us to create beautiful flowerbeds, mulch beds and rock gardens. Usually, edging is installed to create more visual definition in the design and to prevent materials from migrating into other parts of the yard. The materials that are typically used in edging are plastic, aluminum, pavers, or natural stone.
At B. Rocke Landscaping, we’ve made the conscious decision to move away from using plastic lawn edging. The reasons for this are threefold:
1 – Plastic edging doesn’t last as long as the other options, and is especially vulnerable to cracking over our cold Winnipeg winters.
2 – Plastic edging is difficult to recycle
3 – Aluminum, brick and natural stone are generally more aesthetically pleasing
Our company prides itself on using environmentally friendly products. Aluminum is easily recycled, and pavers and natural stone can be re-used on another project or used as clean fill or aggregate base.
