Trendscapes Supply Co. provided the Techo-Bloc for the pathways and patio, while the Endicott pavers for the soldier course were sourced from Alsips Building Products. This ensured that the hardscape would have the necessary durability while matching the colour and style of the house. Approaching the front door, guests are flanked by two majestic concrete pillars clad in more Alsips brick and topped with custom Tyndall stone caps from Gillis Quarries. This ties in with the Tyndall featured throughout the house exterior, including the original steps. The paver pathway leads around the side of the house and through a gate to the large walk-out patio and hot tub in the back. Given the propensity of shade throughout the yard, special care was taken with regard to developing the planting plan. The clients were taken on a nursery visit to make their selections, which included several varieties of hydrangeas! All plants were supplied by Jensen’s Nursery and Aubin Nurseries. Planting areas were also bordered with Alsips pavers and were filled with crushed black granite. The original lawn was in fairly poor shape, so new mineral sod from Lach Sod Farms was installed throughout the back and side yards, ensuring a soft play area exists for years to come. The finishing touch was the new aluminum fence, supported by another three concrete pillars clad with the same materials as above. This project was a great example of how a classic landscape design can be made to feel new again.
